Cookin’ Up Something Good
July 27 // à la Sarah Kurdt
Hi Gorgeous Chefs! There is something so inspiring about flipping through a cookbook. The drool-worthy photography and stories behind each recipe always bring me out of a “recipe rut.” Below are some of my absolute favorite cookbooks (the kinds with notes in them and chocolate stains on the pages.)
Just The Good Stuff by Rachel Mansfield
Try the Zesty Jalapeno Meatloaf. This book uses all alternative, good-for-you ingredients like oat flour, non-dairy milks and “flax eggs” if you wish. There are really easy solo dining recipes in here, too! Overall, it is a fun and creative book if you are looking for healthier recipes and open to experiment with new ingredients.
Healthier Together by Liz Moody
Try the Extra Crumbly Grain-Free Coffee Cake. Liz Moody was previously an editor for the wellness website MindBodyGreen, and has since branched out to build her own brand. The concept of this book is to cook TOGETHER which makes for a really warm, fun and fuzzy theme throughout.
What’s Gaby Cooking by Gaby Dalkin
Try the Chicken Larb Bowls. California locale Gaby has really fresh, veggie forward dinner recipes and apps. The Chicken Larb bowls filled with seasoned ground chicken, quick pickled cucumbers and coconut rice are on heavy rotation in my kitchen.
Cooking for Jeffrey by Ina Garten
Try the Skillet Roasted Lemon Chicken. I have relied on famous chef Ina Garten for SO many recipes. However, this sentimental cookbook written for her husband is my all time fave. This is a perfect gift for a Mom or Aunt. I consider this book a classic.
Dining In by Alison Roman
Try the internet famous Salted Butter and Chocolate Chunk Shortbread. Cool NYC girl Alison Roman’s cookbook is coffee-table worthy. She has vibrant, edgy shots of food with an approachable attitude. This makes for a great housewarming gift.
My Father’s Daughter by Gwyneth Paltrow
Try the Fudgy Chocolate Brownies. I know Gwyneth has a collection of cookbooks under her belt at this point, but My Father’s Daughter remains to be my most dog-eared edition. This book has both clean recipes and more traditional meal ideas, which I find to be the perfect balance for a celebrity cookbook.
Half-Baked Harvest Super Simple by Tieghan Gerard (Zoe’s Pick!)
Try the Thai Basil Beef. Tieghan’s blog, Half Baked Harvest, is one to check out! Her book has become a NY Times Best Seller for a good reason and her food photography is dreamy.
