Let’s learn. The Insight portion of the blog was designed to discuss and bring awareness to current social issues (such as the environment, women’s sexuality, political awareness) and provide resources in order to educate ourselves as well as offer ways to get involved. These carefully picked resources will be a tool for you to read, listen, watch, and get engaged each week.

At Camp Peach we believe staying active, aware, and involved in our communities is our duty. The topics we have chosen will be current and we’ve done our best to find ways to digest the information for an easier narrative and understanding. Navigating these topics can be difficult, but we are in this together!

For our launch we have chosen to discuss systemic racism, a topic that continues to be heavy on our minds and hearts. Systemic racism is a complex topic and we understand the conversation needs to continue far past the surface we will be scratching. Our hope is that the resources provided each week will allow you to delve deeper and be an active participant in a conversation that needs your voice. We stand behind the truth that Black Lives Matter and that we must continually and actively educate ourselves to be the best allies we can to the black community.

Each month, we will select a book to read and discuss on the designated topic (a social book club, of sorts). We have chosen to begin the month by reading White Fragility. White Fragility is written by sociologist Robin DiAngelo, who has run diversity trainings in corporate America for over twenty years. White Fragility examines why it is so difficult for white people to discuss and confront racism and the ideologies behind this. We hope that you will join us in reading White Fragility and look forward to discussing our takeaways with each and every one of you.

We will be posting Insight every Wednesday, so stay tuned. Xx.
