DIY Almond Milk
October 16 // à la Sarah Kurdt
I started making my own almond milk during quarantine, and let me tell you… it’s delicious. It is really easy to do and only takes a few minutes to make! Some popular almond milk brands on the market are only 2% almonds and 98% water, so you can imagine how rich & yummy almond milk is when it is homemade! It has a much more “almond” flavor and you can feel good about the ingredient list.
Homemade Almond Milk
1 cup of raw almonds (need to be soaked overnight)
5 cups of filtered water
Pinch of sea salt
2 dates (optional)
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla (optional)
Directions
Cover your almonds with water & soak your almonds overnight in the fridge.
Drain your almonds. Add almonds, water, sea salt, dates & vanilla to a high-speed blender (I use a Vitamix.)
Blend for two minutes.
Strain the almond milk through a nut milk bag. (You can wash these out and reuse them)
Pour into a glass jar and store in the fridge for up to 5 days. (They look very cute and vintage!)
I’ve been using my homemade almond milk in lattes, smoothies & poured over cereal. Enjoy!
