The goop Skincare Review
July 30 // à la Sarah Kurdt
As an all-things goop enthusiast, I had to get my hands on the goop skincare line (This would make my skin look like Gwyneth Paltrow’s right?) For those who have not been enlightened, goop is Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website - which includes healthy recipes, beauty tips, travel guides, and a fabulous online store. I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I LOVE Gwyneth. She not only has a successful acting career, but built this empire of a women-run business. Hot Tip: check out her show on Netflix, The Goop Lab.
I have been slowly transitioning to using more clean products the past year or so, which has been a good excuse to experiment with new brands. I started off with just the goop Luminous Melting Cleanser, and have now adapted to using the entire collection (okay, minus my current half-used jar of eye cream… but that’s next!)
Here is what I have been using:
goop by Juice Beauty Luminous Melting Cleanser This cleanser is pricey, but it removes all dirt and makeup with one swipe of the included cotton muslin cloth. You apply the clear balm on your face with no water, then wash it off. The cleanser leaves your skin feeling soft, not stripped or dry. Side note, this cleanser won Allure’s Best of Beauty Award! I use this in the PM and can’t travel without it.
GOOPGLOW Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator I use this powerful exfoliator only once a week (I have sensitive skin, but the instructions say 2-3x a week is fine.) You leave the tingly peach scrub on your face for 3 minutes like a mask, then gently wash it off. I find it leaves my skin glowy, bright and smooth.
goop by Juice Beauty Revitalizing Day Moisturizer This organic moisturizer smells like citrus heaven. It is loaded with Vitamin C and very lightweight. I am prone to breakouts on my chin, and this is the first moisturizer that doesn’t irritate that problem area. I use this in the AM and PM.
goop by Juice Beauty Enriching Face Oil This face oil is a miracle product! It smells divine and absorbs quickly, considering how rich it is. I massage this on top of my moisturizer in the evenings for an extra layer of hydration. It feels like a fancy aromatherapy session every night, and it is a quite relaxing ritual.
P.S. This YouTube video, The goop Facial, has been playing on repeat at my apartment. I love how it’s educational, informative and just SO satisfying to watch. I suggest you try giving yourself a facial massage using the techniques. The main takeaway for me was you can use your hands as facial massage tools, no need for fancy jade rollers if you don’t have one. Oh, and good luck not getting caught in the beauty channel rabbit hole of Youtube.
Comment below if you have tried any of the goop products or your favorite alternatives. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Stay Peachy. Xx.
