I’m always down to try a new beauty treatment and with my wedding coming up I figured now is actually the time to treat myself. I am a total believer that investing in your skin will pay dividends and it’s an area you don’t want to skimp on. HydraFacials have always interested me, but I never actually pulled the trigger until now.

What is it?

Think of a HydraFacial as a vacuum for your pores that sucks out all the bad stuff that causes breakouts and tends to make your skin look dull. The process cleanses, extracts and hydrates and is virtually pain free. There’s no downtime and the results (aka a dewier plumper version of your skin) are immediate.

The Experience

I chose to go to Rebecca at RejuvenateMd (and would highly recommend) in Richmond for my facial and decided on the 45 minute signature HydraFacial (which was the cheapest option at $199). Rebecca did a great job explaining what she was doing, the purpose of it and what I would feel as she went through each step of the facial. Although there was a slight suctioning sensation throughout the experience, I felt the treatment to be oddly relaxing. Even when Rebecca applied the peel portion of the treatment, I still did not experience any discomfort. I found the experience in itself to be very enjoyable and the results to be even better.

The Results

Day 1 Immediately following HydraFacial | No makeup

Day 1 Immediately following HydraFacial | No makeup

Immediately following the facial my skin was WAY perkier. I have recently been struggling with super dry, irritated and dull skin and this was the perfect pick me up. My skin not only looked alive but it felt quenched. Honestly, I don’t think my skin has ever looked better. It has also seemed to be more even overall, normally I have areas of redness around my nose and on my chin. One thing I would note, is that my skin was ever so slightly dry on Day 2, but nothing like after a normal peel.

The Consensus

Over a week after my treatment | Full makeup

Over a week after my treatment | Full makeup

I would get a HydraFacial monthly if I could, but at $199 a pop it’s a bit pricey. I see this as a great investment for a big event or for routine maintenance as you can budget it in! It’s recommended every 6-10 weeks. The results are worth it and it’s also a great way to get your skin on the right track if it’s been lackluster as of late.
