Protein Bar Product Review
December 14 // à la Sarah Kurdt
I find myself reaching for bars all the time. Whether it be a “post breakfast” snack or even as a healthier dessert some nights! I wanted to try 4 popular protein bars for you & break down the results. I stuck to Peanut Butter flavors to keep the competition as even as possible.
1) Perfect Bar (Dark Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter)
Gluten Free, 15g of Protein
This tasted like the inside of a soft, sweet Reese’s cup. Even though this bar is naturally sweetened with honey, at 18g of sugar it is more of a “dessert treat.”
These bars live in the refrigerator since they have no preservatives.
A personal favorite of mine! They taste amazing. I’d buy again.
2) GoMacro Bar (Peanut Butter)
Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Low Fodmap, 11g of Protein
This tasted sweet, dense, chewy and filling. I love the small peanut butter chips mixed throughout the bar.
This flavor is for a true peanut butter lover - note they do have more of a “protein” taste from the brown rice protein powder.
Really delicious! I’d buy again.
3) Rx Bar (Peanut Butter)
Gluten Free, 12g of Protein
These are VERY sticky (probably from the dates that make up the bar.)
I like that these have only 5 ingredients.
I prefer other bars on the market right now, but they aren’t bad. Maybe I’m just sick of eating these?
4) Kind Bar (Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate)
Gluten Free, 8g of Protein
These are crunchy like trail mix, with a chocolate coating on the bottom.
The lowest protein of all the bars, so perhaps not as “filling.”
These are very easy to find (airports, vending machines, gas stations, etc) so they are a great snack if you are on the go.
